Raching Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2004 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, and it is the most established electronic humidor specialist we carry. The company describes itself as the inventor of the most stable temperature and humidity cigar cabinet and states more than twenty years of production. Its factory is in Dongguan, covering more than 30,000 square metres including a 13,000 square metre woodshop and its own stainless steel works, with more than 400 factory staff and 200 corporate. Output runs at around 40,000 units a year against a stated capacity above 100,000, sold in more than 40 countries. Our Raching collection covers the MON, C, CT and RR series.

This profile covers the series, the ammonia removal feature, what the specification actually means, and how to pick a capacity.

The series, and what each is for

Raching splits its cigar range four ways, and the model prefix tells you which family a cabinet belongs to.

Series Models Character
MON MON800, MON1800, MON2800, MON3800, MON3800B dual space, MON5800A Climate controlled wood cabinets. The core of the range, with ammonia removal
C C230A, C330A, C380A Precision electronic cabinets
CT and CD CT48A, CD1200 double door Stainless steel. The largest capacities
RR RR980 Rounded edge design in premium calfskin leather
Other MA50, DM58 Dark Matter Smaller and specialist units

Raching also builds wine coolers and dry ageing cabinets for meat, which is worth knowing because it explains the engineering. Precise climate control in a sealed cabinet is the same problem whether the contents are tobacco, wine or beef, and a company solving it three ways gets better at it.

The MON series, four capacities

The core wood cabinets, from the 600 cigar MON800 upward.

Ammonia removal, explained honestly

The MON series carries ammonia removal as its headline feature, and Raching states that the MON800 removes 93.7 percent of ammonia odour. That is the manufacturer's own figure, and we report it as such.

Why ammonia is in a humidor at all

Fermentation and ageing release ammonia from tobacco, which is why a freshly rolled cigar can smell and taste sharp. In a sealed cabinet holding several hundred cigars, that ammonia has nowhere to go and can settle on everything inside. A cabinet that actively scrubs it is solving a real flavour and aroma problem, not an invented one. This is about how the cigars taste and smell, nothing more.

If you keep a lot of young cigars, or you buy boxes fresh rather than rested, this feature matters more than it does for someone storing a small, well aged collection.

The published specification

Taking the MON800 as the reference, Raching publishes: 140 litres holding more than 600 cigars, fan cooling with PTC heating and a dehumidify system, Spanish cedar trays, a 100 percent wood frame, a piano black finish, and an operating range of 60 to 71 degrees Fahrenheit and 60 to 75 percent relative humidity, with precision stated at plus or minus 1 percent.

Note what that combination means. Fan cooling plus PTC heating plus dehumidification is a three way system: it can bring temperature down, bring it up, and pull moisture out. Most electronic humidors can only add humidity, which is fine in a dry climate and useless in a humid one. In Los Angeles in August that difference is real.

Commonly listed capacities across the range run roughly: C230A around 900, C330A around 1,300, C380A around 1,500; MON1800 around 1,200, MON2800 around 1,500, MON3800 around 1,800, MON5800A around 4,000; CT48A around 4,000 in stainless steel and the CD1200 double door around 3,200; RR980 around 3,000. Treat those as approximate rather than as Raching's own published figures, and remember that any stated count assumes a Robusto.

The C series, the stainless steel and the RR

The RR series

The RR is Raching's design piece: a rounded edge cabinet cased in premium calfskin leather, offered in Havana Tan, Trinidad Brown, San Diego Red, Caribbean Black and British Green, with an Amber Series added more recently. It is the cabinet for a room where the humidor is furniture rather than equipment.

If leather over climate control is what you want, compare it against the Afidano Artistry series, which takes the same approach with a different look.

The largest MON cabinets

What we notice first-hand

Raching is the safe recommendation in this category, and safe is the right word. Twenty years of production, its own factory, its own stainless steel works and a product line that extends into wine and dry ageing all point the same way: this is an engineering company that happens to make humidors, rather than a brand that commissions them.

The model to know is the MON800. At around 600 cigars it is the size most serious collectors actually need, it carries the full three way climate system and the ammonia removal, and it is the least expensive entry into the MON family. Everything above it is the same idea at greater capacity.

Two honest notes. Raching does not publish which of its models use compressor cooling and which use thermoelectric, and it names no component suppliers, so claims you may read elsewhere about German compressors are not something we can verify. And these are heavy cabinets: call us before ordering so we can confirm dimensions, weight and delivery for your address.

The bottom line

MON800 if you are buying your first serious cabinet. MON2800 or MON3800 if your collection is already past a thousand. CT48A if you want stainless steel and the largest capacity. RR980 if the cabinet has to look like furniture.

If a cabinet is more than you need, our desktop humidors and the passive wooden pieces from Maccarrone and Brizard and Co. are the alternative, and the full humidor range shows everything together.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes Raching humidors?

Raching Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2004 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, with a factory in Dongguan covering more than 30,000 square metres.

What are the Raching series?

MON for climate controlled wood cabinets, C for precision electronic, CT and CD for stainless steel, and RR for the calfskin leather design cabinets.

What is ammonia removal and why does it matter?

Fermentation and ageing release ammonia from tobacco, which can make a young cigar taste and smell sharp. In a sealed cabinet it has nowhere to go. Raching states the MON800 removes 93.7 percent of ammonia odour. That figure is the manufacturer's own.

How many cigars does the MON800 hold?

Raching publishes 140 litres holding more than 600 cigars. As with any humidor, that assumes a Robusto at around a 50 ring gauge.

Can a Raching cabinet lower humidity as well as raise it?

Yes. The MON800 specification includes fan cooling, PTC heating and a dehumidify system, so it can bring temperature down, bring it up, and pull moisture out. Many electronic humidors can only add humidity.

Do Raching cabinets use compressors?

Raching does not publish which models use compressor cooling and which use thermoelectric, and names no component suppliers. Claims about specific compressor brands are not something we can verify.

Are the trays Spanish cedar?

Yes. The MON800 specification lists Spanish cedar trays in a 100 percent wood frame.

What is the RR980?

Raching's design cabinet, with rounded edges and a premium calfskin leather casing, offered in Havana Tan, Trinidad Brown, San Diego Red, Caribbean Black and British Green, with an Amber Series added more recently.

Which Raching should I buy first?

The MON800. At more than 600 cigars it suits most serious collections, it carries the full climate system and the ammonia removal, and it is the least expensive way into the MON family.

Does Raching make anything other than humidors?

Yes. The company also builds wine coolers and dry ageing cabinets for meat, which is part of why its climate control engineering is as developed as it is.

What is the difference between Raching and Afidano?

Both build electronic cabinets. Raching has produced since 2004 and leads on climate engineering and ammonia removal. Afidano launched publicly at the 2026 trade show and leads on furniture grade finish.
