The OpusX “Les Chaînes de l’Amour” Limited Edition Lighter in Black is a collector's edition from the house of Brizard & Co., created in collaboration with S.T. Dupont, Maccarrone, and Arturo Fuente. It is the first S.T. Dupont lighter to feature handcrafted fine marquetry, and it carries the OpusX chains emblem in 24k gold.

Production is strictly limited to 99 numbered pieces in Black. Each lighter is individually numbered and arrives with its own numbered plaque and certificate. This is a collectible design object first, a luxury cigar lighter second.

Details

The front panel is signature Maccarrone marquetry, the work of a fifth generation master of the marquetry tradition. Burl walnut and tulipwood are hand cut into fine elements, assembled into a single continuous pattern, then finished flush and even. Set against that warm grain is the OpusX emblem in 24k gold with its red lacquer chains, the motif that gives the edition its name.

Around the panel, S.T. Dupont applies its own house language: the diamond head guilloche it has cut in Faverges since 1872, a gold finish, a black lacquer corner, and the hinged cap that opens with the sound collectors know. The result is a piece that reads as jewelry in the hand and as an heirloom on a desk.

Presentation is part of the object. The lighter is delivered in its box with an ostrich pouch, an embroidered OpusX pouch, a numbered plaque, and its certificate, so the edition can be kept complete.
