The Byron 175 Tribute Set marks 175 years of the Byron name, a Cuban heritage brand tracing to the 1850s and revived today by Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco. Four cigars, one drawn from each chapter of the brand's story, arrive in a display package with every cigar sealed in its own cosmetic grade aluminum tube. It is one of the most complete luxury cigar gift sets we carry.

This is a rare set. Selected Tobacco released it in strictly limited numbers through appointed Byron merchants only, and it is not something we can restock on request. When a set is here, it is here. Every cigar in the collection has rested at least four years after rolling, under Selected Tobacco's proprietary maturation process. That patience is the whole point of the set. In Nelson Alfonso's words, "time is the greatest ingredient."

Binder: Selected Tobacco has not disclosed the binder for this release, so we are not going to guess at it.

Flavor Profile: What holds these four together is the Byron house signature, and ours shows it early. Cedar arrives first, dry and clean, and behind it a dark sweetness that reads as cherry and dried fig rather than sugar. Raisin and warm caramel fill the middle third, with just enough black pepper underneath to keep the sweetness honest. The years of rest are audible in how quietly they burn, no rough edges, no heat in the draw. Moving up through the set the ring gauge grows and the body thickens with it, so we smoke them in order, smallest to largest, across one long evening. The last inch of each is where the fruit concentrates.

Blend Details: All four cigars are handcrafted in Costa Rica under an Ecuadorian wrapper, over a filler of Dominican, Peruvian and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The set spans the full arc of the Byron cigars range, from the Seleccion 1850 through the 19th, 20th and 21st Century series, which makes it the clearest single introduction to the brand and a serious gift for a collector who already knows it.
